Progress at last

I finally got some encouraging emails and am beginning to think this might happen; totally scared now. To borrow a phrase, gulp!

A lost school friend wrote to tell me to be in touch late August to “talk” and, here the magic words, he “might be in my team”. That’s already a small victory. Someone is seriously considering joining me in this quest.

I am doing cartwheels!

I might not be doing cartwheels once I start riding and once I actually sit to consider the 35km route we will take.

My friend P, after looking at the Mt Kenya picture above, had some doubts about the wisdom of going down those peaks. I am happy to report – and to reassure anyone else who is interested in riding – that it won’t be those rugged, snow covered peaks we will be racing on (although…). The race will be through farmland and some conservation areas.

Perhaps its time I had a seat down with Lillian and Susie.

Perhaps its time I got a bike….

Charlie?

  1. S’up? Am quite the thinker…and am thinking right now. I might need some help though (this line of thought is unfamiliar territory!) so keep nudging me…sawa?

  2. Stop thinkin’ Maina. But will nudge, will nudge.

  3. Yey Liz,
Nice plot there! I wish i could be there to cheer you on or be part of your crew. At the moment i am in the process of moving to grad school (will start at Miami University, Ohio, not Florida in a few day time). Nevertheless, i’ll see what i can do…may be send you a spare chain, tyre, spoke….for your bike! How’s that!
Go Liz go! I know you’ll have fun and also make this world a better place.
    Bernard K.
